I'm starting to amass a collection of computers, I think. (real and virtual)

  • weasel: fancy 2 in 1 Lenovo, crazy screen hidpi screen that works nice on Niri but gives me more trouble than it's worth, Artix Linux (meh), Niri.
  • bluejay: rpi3, Chimera Linux, no gui, acts as my server.
  • wolf: formerly my PC, now my media server, no gui, runs CachyOS.
  • wyvern: CachyOS, PC, used for gaming.
  • eel: e-ink tablet, used for notes and reading.

Retired/Recycled:

  • chromebook: gets a mention for being one of the first devices I played with Linux on (using crouton).
  • sharky: really old Acer Aspire, Arch Linux, Swaywm. The first laptop that I set up for real daily use. Stayed home, tethered to power because the battery was shot. Finally took out the RAM and hard drive and recycled the rest.
  • greyfox: cheapo offbrand laptop, the predecessor to weasel. Ran Arch, Chimera Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and 9front at various times. I need to get rid of it because it's not much better than ferret, and has a smaller drive.
  • beaver: Chimera Linux VM on weasel. Deleted at some point, or renamed to just chimera. Named because it was going to be a "busy beaver".
  • bumblebee: Gentoo Linux VM on weasel, I think? Deleted at some point when I moved off Gentoo. Named because it was going to be a "busy bee"/hardworking binhost for greyfox, when it ran Gentoo.
  • otter: another old spare laptop, ran Chimera Linux. Repurposed for my mom to replace her aging Chromebook.
  • orca: the old media server, ran Chimera Linux.
  • tabbycat: Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 2015, PostmarketOS, used it with Weylus for a bit. Now runs my labwc setup with nwg-grid, not used much because of a weird audio glitch where it emits a high pitched noise that increases when you increase the brightness?? Haven't been able to debug.
  • butterfly: Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 2015 (the bigger version of tabbycat), PostmarketOS. Now runs my labwc setup with nwg-grid, acts as an e-reader.
  • daemoncat:FreeBSD VM on weasel.
  • fishcat:OpenBSD VM on weasel.
  • ferret: Older Lenovo. Used for trying FreeBSD and OpenBSD on hardware.
